Mangrove restoration

In the coastal region of Kenya, the mangrove has been a key contributor when it comes to carbon capture. Mangroves are however on a decline with the increase pressure by locals. Our initiative aims to sensitivities the community on environmental conservation.

Our efforts have resulted in over 400 mangroves being planted across the shores of the ocean. It is also this effort that has sensitized conservation efforts among farmers and policy shifts at the local level.

Locals have adopted to planting mangroves whenever they hold their weekly group meetings.

Beneficiary Planting Mangroves

Air Quality

Our waste management initiatives are meant to give opportunities to the youth while also contributing to the restoration of the environment. We have mobilized youth around Nairobi to mitigate the public health issue that is waste management. We have rehabilitated roughly 30 dump sites, improving the air quality around Nairobi City.

One of our beneficiary groups, Lucky Summer has been a key stakeholder in sensitizing Kasarani locals on the importance of recycling and proper waste disposal as a remedy to burning waste.

Green Jobs and Financing

Financial sustainability is key to our holistic model of development. As such, we have linked both enterprises and groups with Imarika, KCB among others, tailor-making products specific needs to their needs.

SACCOs have been established to help the groups under our waste management to cultivate a saving culture and help build financial resilience and foundation. To date, over Ksh. 4 Million shillings has been disbursed to the groups as seed money.

Greeen Jobs have also been a result of our intervention in the waste value chain. From the collaborative efforts with other stakeholders and directly creating opportunities, we have created 200 jobs for youth in the waste value chain.
